Prosper Psychological Testing Services offers evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). During the evaluation, one of our clinical psychologists will gather information about you or your child to determine if the criteria for ASD are met based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5).
For an Autism Spectrum Disorder assessment, the psychologist will gather you or your child’s history and background of symptoms, review appropriate records such as medical, psychological, or school/employment records, and conduct a variety of tests. Questionnaires, rating scales, intellectual screenings, and measures of communication and social interaction may all be part of the assessment. Additionally, questionnaires may be sent, or interviews conducted, with other people such as a teacher or daycare provider with proper consent. For most ASD assessments, the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2), will be used; this tool is considered the gold standard in the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
